contextualism Language (shaping the way we teach)


Contextualizing Language
Contextualizing is the meaningful use of language for communicative purpose. It helps students understand how language users construct language in a given context. Teachers can contextualize language instruction by organizing the context of the language curriculum according to themes or topics, these themes or topics work best when they are threaded throughout the course of study.
Some additional reasons for using contextualized language are that language is constructed though a blend of purpose, situation and social needs, classroom learning experiences that incorporate these dimensions.
A contextualized approach to instruction also supports the use of integrated skills and pair and group work, and it can foster a deeper and topic are hight-interest and motivate students.

ü Games and interactive activities.
ü Storytelling, dramatization, singing.
ü Students presentation, projects.
ü Themes or topics in the activities.

These techniques are important to develop students’ skills. Also try to identify the themes or topics in the activities.

In these techniques we can appreciate how learners are interested of both lower and higher levels of language learners and how they exemplify of both light threated and more serious topics.
The themes and topics should be from the real world and obvious to catch the attention of the learners.
The teacher use a variety of activity to get students involved in both the language in the content or context. The context of language teaching contextualizing language through the use of themes topics and real world situation can be a way to bring English alive for leaners and actively engage them with both language and content.

·         Text back often don’t include popular English
·         They can produce a sense of achievement
·         Language change is reflected in the material
In some words contextualizing language is a good tool that teachers can use to make learning English easier for the learners. Students can understand better if they talk about familiar topics and real life situations than about hypothetical situations with the act or process of putting information into the context; making sense of information from the situation or location in which the information was found.
